Island Batik Ambassador 2025 Recap

As we wrap up 2025, I wanted to take a look back at all the projects I've completed as an Island Batik Ambassador. It has been an amazing year! Many thanks to the wonderful team at Lumin Fabrics for facilitating this program and for providing all those gorgeous fabrics! In addition to the fabric, Ambassadors were provided notions and supplies from Industry Sponsors - Hobbs Batting, Aurifil Thread, Schmetz Needles, ByAnnie, Funky Friends Factory, Deb Tucker's Studio 180 Design, Oliso and Accuquilt. Thank you to each of these sponsors for their generous support.

Below are photos of the contents of the Ambassador boxes I received in January:

I received a second box in January as well! Click here for that blog and video.
Below are the projects from each month's challenge of 2025:

I made this runner for the February Runner Up Blog Hop using the Square Squared ruler from Studio 180 design:

For March, the Ambassadors participated in the It's All Up to You Challenge. I made this Ribbons quilt using the Petal Poetry fabric collection. The pattern for Ribbons is available here.

April brought the Drunkard's Path Challenge, where I got to try my hand at curved piecing! Below is the result, my Circle Dance quilt pattern. For Circle Dance, I used the Sunlit Garden fabric collection and also created a tutorial - Curved Piecing Made Easy.

For May, Accuquilt sponsored the Irish Chain Blog Hop. Accuquilt graciously provided the Ambassadors with their Irish Chain fabric die and we were to make a quilt using the Irish Chain die in whatever way we wanted. I used the Earthly Enchantment fabric collection and named my quilt Criss Cross:

For June, the Ambassadors participated in the Funky Friends Factory Challenge and got to try our hand at making a stuffed animal using a pattern from Funky Friends Factory. I chose Patch the Patchwork Pussy Cat. This was the first stuffed animal I had made and found it very challenging!

August brought the Hot Stuff Challenge with Oliso. For this challenge, we were to "glitz-up" the carry bag we received with our Oliso M3 Pro iron. I used some applique dies from Accuquilt to decorate my case:

For September, the Island Batik Ambassadors participated in the Threaded Chaos Blog Hop with Aurifil! We were to create a Crazy Quilt in a crib size or larger. I used the Berry Crush fabric collection for my quilt....love these pink and purple fabrics!

The October Sew Stylish Challenge was to make a bag of our choice using a pattern from ByAnnie.com. I chose the Switchback pattern.  ByAnnie.com generously sent us not only the pattern of our choice, but all the necessary notions and hardware as well. Island Batik generously provided the fabric of our choice. My bag was made using the Stone Strata fabric collection:

Timeless Traditions Blog Hop - For the November Blog Hop, the Ambassadors were challenged to make a quilt using at least five traditional quilt blocks. I designed the Diamonds in the Rough quilt to use the Nine Patch Chain, Nine Patch, Ohio Star, Quarter Square Triangle and Half Square Triangle blocks along with the Garden Bloom fabric collection. The pattern is available here.

Its All Up to You! For December, the Ambassadors could make anything we wanted! Any size, any theme, any technique. I chose to feature the beautiful fabric from the Under the Sea collection, along with Square in a Square blocks to take advantage of the Stack of 10" fabric squares I had received from Island Batik. The result is my Gemstones quilt. The pattern is available here.

It has been a great year! I really enjoyed being an Island Batik Ambassador. The experience made me challenge myself, expand my designing skills and also brought opportunities and industry connections as well as many new friends.
