It doesn't seem possible that a company whose name is Cuddle Cat Quiltworks didn't have an original cat themed quilt pattern...I thought it was time I rectified that! Introducing Coffee Cats, my latest pattern release.
This quilt was so much fun to make! I love the combination of patchwork mugs and cat faces, it's kind of a natural! Since we have two black cats, I decided to make all my cats black, using four different black fat quarters. For the mugs and the rest of the quilt, I used fabric from the Melrose fabric line from Studio M and Moda Fabrics. This fabric line is a bit modern but also whimsical enough for the look I was aiming for.
The cat faces (as well as the mugs) are entirely pieced (no applique needed), which makes it a suitable pattern for beginners as well as more advanced quilters. The patchwork mugs would look great done in scrappy fabrics and you can be as adventurous as you like with the cats...make each one different or make them all the same, it's up to you! To make the cutting process easier, I have included directions for either scenario.
