Say hello to Christmastime! I am happy to announce the release of my newest pattern just in time for the holiday season. This was such a fun pattern to design and a fun quilt to make!
This year I knew I wanted to make a Christmas themed quilt pattern. So, armed with my box of Christmas scraps and a fat quarter bundle from Moda's Holiday Essentials Christmas fabric line, I started brainstorming ideas. Since I wanted it to be scrappy and fat quarter friendly, I started playing with Christmas tree blocks and then ornament blocks. I could not decide on just one...so I included them both!
Christmastime is a fun pattern because it lets you play around with fabric placement, auditioning your fabrics to your heart's content. The tree blocks are made up of five tiers of graduating widths, plus the trunk. The ornament blocks are made up of a checkerboard pattern and use half square triangles on the corners.
This pattern uses two key quilt components, flying geese and half square triangles. If you are new to quilting, or just need a brush-up, you will find a flying geese tutorial here and a half square triangle tutorial here.
To complete the quilt you will need 1.25 yards of assorted prints or 5 fat quarters for both the trees and the ornaments, plus background, sashing and border fabrics. The completed quilt measures 62" X 76", making it the perfect size to cuddle up with or decorate for the holidays.
Christmastime is available as a digital PDF download here or as a printed pattern here.
I have also created a tutorial to make the Christmas Tree quilt block used in this pattern here.
Until next time, happy quilting!
